EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES IN SIERO (ASTURIAS)

Extracurricular activities in Asturias are a fundamental part of our educational offer at Palacio de Granda. We are proud to be able to offer a wide variety of options so that each student can find the activity that best suits their interests and abilities.

Being located in Siero, a privileged area of Asturias, we have spacious and modern spaces for sports, music, dance, and technological activities, as well as a team of teachers specialised in each of the disciplines.

The importance of these activities lies not only in the development of new skills, but also in the creation of bonds of friendship, teamwork and self-improvement, key factors for the emotional and physical well-being of the students.

What ages are our extracurricular activities for?

We understand that students’ interests and needs vary according to their age, so our after-school activities are designed to cover a wide range of ages, from as young as 3 years old to teenagers. Each activity is specifically designed to suit the cognitive and physical abilities of the different stages of child and adolescent development.

We have activities adapted for different age groups, ensuring that each child or teenager has the opportunity to participate and progress at their own pace. For example, for younger children, activities focus on motor development and play, while older students can explore more specific areas such as robotics or computer science, which require greater concentration and technical knowledge.

What extracurricular activities do we offer?

Sports

At Palacio de Granda, sports occupy a prominent place in our extracurricular activities, as we believe that sport is not only essential for physical health, but also for the development of values such as effort, discipline and companionship

  • Football: Our school football team is open to boys and girls of all ages. It is an excellent opportunity to develop technical skills, learn about teamwork and enjoy the beautiful game in first class facilities.
  • Basketball: Basketball is another of our most popular options. We work on both the individual skills of the players and collective strategies, encouraging respect and cooperation in every game.
  • Judo: For those who prefer combat sports, Judo is an excellent option. This discipline not only teaches self-defence techniques, but also encourages concentration, self-control and respect for the opponent.
  • Handball: This activity combines speed, coordination and tactics, and is ideal for students who enjoy team sports with a more dynamic physical component.

Dance and Rythmic Gymnastics

Within the artistic field, we offer rhythmic gymnastics, a discipline that combines dance with sport. The classes are designed for children of all ages who wish to improve their flexibility, coordination and body expression. Rhythmic gymnastics not only promotes physical development, but also enhances creativity and confidence.

Private music lessons

Music is another of the fundamental pillars in the integral development of our students. We offer private music lessons covering different instruments and styles. These classes are designed both for those who want to learn music for the first time and for those who already have experience and wish to perfect their skills. Music not only improves cognitive abilities, it is also an excellent tool for emotional expression and creativity.

Robotics and Computer Science

We live in a technological age, and at Palacio de Granda we are committed to our students acquiring the necessary skills for the future. For this reason, our extracurricular activities include areas of robotics and computer science, which have become one of the favourite options among our students. These activities are focused on:

  • Programming and digital skills: From an early age, students can begin to explore the world of programming through platforms designed for their level. These skills are fundamental in today’s and tomorrow’s world of work, as well as encouraging logical thinking and problem solving.
  • Robotics: In our robotics classes, students learn to build and programme robots. It is an activity that fosters creativity, critical thinking and teamwork, and it certainly captures the imagination of young people.
  • Cook & Play: This activity combines cooking with playful learning. Students not only learn how to prepare simple and healthy recipes, but also develop practical skills such as organisation, teamwork and creativity in the kitchen.
