Luke, a student at Palacio de Granda, speaks at TEDx Youth in Málaga
Imagination, critical thinking, and the courage to share ideas. Luke K., a student at Palacio de Granda, took part as a speaker at the TEDx Youth – The British School of Málaga event, an international gathering that brought together young people aged 12 to 17 under the theme “The Shape of Possibility.” The event took place at Cine Yelmo and was attended by students, families, teachers, authorities, media representatives, and members of the educational community.
A space for sharing ideas
The event brought together students from various international schools in a setting designed to encourage reflection, idea-sharing, and new ways of understanding the future. In a dynamic and collaborative atmosphere, participants not only delivered their talks but also listened to other young speakers, exchanged perspectives, and built connections beyond the classroom.
Organised within the ISP Schools network, TEDx Youth is firmly established as a platform that amplifies student voices and fosters dialogue around the challenges and opportunities of today’s world.
Learning to think and communicate
During his talk, Luke demonstrated great confidence on stage, standing out for his ability to structure and communicate complex ideas clearly and engagingly. These increasingly essential skills are an integral part of everyday learning.
The International Baccalaureate (IB) approach, offered at Palacio de Granda, specifically promotes the development of competencies such as effective communication, critical thinking, and the confidence to express ideas to diverse audiences.
More than a talk: a transformative learning experience
Taking part in an event like TEDx Youth is far more than simply stepping onto a stage; it is a natural extension of the educational process. It is an experience that encourages students to step outside their comfort zones, face new challenges, and discover the impact their ideas can have.
In Luke’s case, this opportunity reflects an educational journey that goes beyond academic content, focusing on personal development, autonomy, and the ability to create a positive impact within one’s environment.
At Palacio de Granda, there is a strong emphasis on helping students develop their own voice, learn to build arguments, and gain confidence in public speaking.
Luke’s experience adds to that of other students who have had the opportunity to participate in international events—moments that push them to go further, embrace new challenges, and grow on a personal level.
Education with an international outlook
Participation in initiatives like this forms part of an open, globally connected educational vision. Palacio de Granda actively encourages students to engage in international experiences that allow them to apply what they have learned in real-world contexts.
Indeed, participation in TEDx Youth reflects a broader philosophy of education: open, international, and focused on preparing students for an ever-changing world.
In this sense, Luke’s presence at TEDx Youth is a clear example of how education can serve as a tool to inspire, connect, and equip students to confidently face the challenges of a rapidly evolving future.
What is TEDx?
TEDx events are independently organised local gatherings that form part of the global TED programme, with the aim of sharing ideas worth spreading. Inspired by the format of TED conferences, these events combine screenings of selected talks with live presentations from guest speakers, creating a space that encourages debate, the exchange of ideas, and meaningful connections among attendees.
